Shetland Islands Council is the unitary Local Authority responsible for delivering vital services, from transport and housing to education and social care, in Shetland. Organised into five directorates of different size and function, Shetland Islands Council is one of the largest employers in Shetland. In 2021 Shetland Islands Council published their ‘Our Ambition 2021-26’ document, where they outlined their vision “of working together to create a positive, confident and sustainable future for Shetland. A Shetland where opportunities attract people of all ages to live, work, study and invest in our islands.”
