Talent Attraction

What was the Project?

The aim of the Talent Attraction Project was to develop strategic priorities and an action plan for recruitment and retention in Shetland.

The project was looking to address issues such as:

  • Demographic changes (e.g. an ageing population), and
  • Skills gaps

The Project is part of the “Place” priority, a key aim of which is:

“Shetland will be attracting and retaining the people needed to sustain our economy, communities and services.”

The changes and improvements from this Project should lead to:

  • Increased in-migration (the movement of people into another region of the same country)
  • Reduction in employers reporting skills gaps and recruitment difficulties
  • A higher proportion of ‘working age’ population, giving a better demographic balance
