What was the Project?

The Money Proofing Policies Project had the aim of ensuring Shetland’s strategic plans are aligned and delivered to support households, to maximise their income and minimise their outgoings.

There was a particular focus on ensuring all policies address:

 

Money Proofing Policies was part of the "Money” priority of Shetland’s Partnership Plan. The “Money” priority’s focus is that all households can afford to have a good standard of living. This Project worked towards two more specific outcomes:

“Everyone will be able to access the support they need to maximise their income potential; including innovative, flexible and entrepreneurial employment opportunities throughout Shetland.”

“Everyone will be able to access the support they need to minimise their outgoings with low income households benefiting from reduced bills.”

Improvement brought about by this work will see:

  • An increased understanding amongst those creating and publishing policies.
  • The development of strategic plans that clearly show that they have been informed by the experiences of people living in low income households.
