Introducing - Nick Ford

Shetland Place Director, Director, Procurement & Property – The Scottish Government

Nick joined the Scottish Government in July 2020, bringing over 25 years’ private‑sector experience and 8 years with UK Government. He specialises in procurement, commercial and project management. Nick is a Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Fellow, Government Commercial Organisation Accredited Assessor, and Chartered Global Management Accountant.

After taking on the role of Shetland Place Director, Nick attended his first meeting of the Management and Leadership Team in March 2026. He’s looking forward to better understanding the opportunities and challenges for Shetland.

Over the next three years, Nick would like to see a sustainable and resilient commitment to the Partnership, with joined-up public services delivering better outcomes for those in Shetland. He believes that a good measure of effective partnership working is whether communities and individuals feel that services are coordinated. Nick would like to see the Partnership continue to serve the community effectively, regardless of who is involved.
