Shetland Integration Joint Board

The Shetland Integration Joint Board (IJB) is the responsible body for community health and social care services for adults in Shetland. It represents an integration of services provided by Shetland Islands Council and NHS Shetland Health Board. As part of this the Shetland Health and Social Care Partnership was formed. The IJB is responsible for planning health and social care services, and for the operational management and main decision making for the Shetland Health and Social Care Partnership.

Jo Robinson - Chief Officer, Shetland Health and Care Partnership

Jo is an Occupational Therapist who worked in a mental health setting prior to moving to Shetland. After her move, Jo worked as a Community Occupational Therapist for several years before becoming Team Leader, then Executive Manager. In 2012 she took on the other Allied Health Professions, becoming Depute Director Community Health and Social Care for 3 years. Jo was formally appointed to her current Chief Officer role in April 2024, after taking up the post on an interim basis in July 2023.

In the next three years, Jo would like the Partnership to have achieved improved health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals in Shetland.

With her original degree being in Biology, with a focus on Environmental Science, Jo maintains an interest in the environment and the impact of climate change, recognising the importance of making services sustainable.

Jo feels that the Partnership can best serve the community by working well together to make best use of all the resources, knowledge and skills that Shetland has to offer.

“The work on localities and around islands with small populations has been transformational and has enabled us to ensure we are meeting the needs of these special places.”
