Gary Robinson
Introducing - Gary Robinson
NHS Shetland Chair, Deputy Leader - Shetland Islands Council
Gary has been the Chair of NHS Shetland since 2018, and is currently in his second stint as Chair for the Shetland Partnership. Gary is an experienced councillor, having served between 2007 and 2017 before being elected again in 2022. Outside of this work Gary was one of the Managers at Clickimin Leisure Centre between 2002 and 2014.
When asked what he would like to have achieved through the partnership in 3 years’ time, Gary focused on the challenges around fuel poverty. Gary acknowledges that whilst this may not be solved in 3 years’ time, there are opportunities for the partnership to make a difference and a positive impact in this area.
Gary believes that one of the ways the partnership could best serve the community is through getting engaged with communities and finding out what the real issues are. The work of the Islands with Small Populations Locality Plan is a good example of this. He also sees the work being done around a place based approach as a real positive in terms of engagement.
