Anchor Early Action

What was the Project?

The Anchor Early Action Project began in 2018 with the aim of bringing about positive changes in the lives of families in Shetland who are under pressure.

Anchor was designed to give families and services the space to try new ways of working together. The purpose of the Project was to find ways to achieve earlier intervention and prevention, in order to avoid crisis. The Project gathers evidence, shares good practice and lessons learnt. This learning is helping to change service delivery and help more families.

There are three key objectives:

  1. To set up family-led problem solving with families engaged with Anchor.
  2. To record and share learning on the barriers and opportunities to family-led problem solving as well as the value of early action.
  3. To show the potential value of system change, and to make this through starting either small incremental changes or step changes.

Anchor Early Action is part of the “People” priority of Shetland's Partnership Plan. A key outcome in the plan that Anchor Early Action is working towards is:

“The Shetland Partnership will be prioritising prevention and working with households and communities to provide innovative solutions to the issues they face.”
