Robert Geddes, Chief Executive Officer

Robert has been CEO of the Shetland Recreational Trust since August 2024, but has been working within the Trust since May 1995.  Robert thinks the partnership can best serve the community by working closely with businesses and partners to ensure that everyone is working towards a collective goal of making communities in Shetland an attractive place to live and work, whilst improving the quality of life for all residents.

In 3 years’ time, Robert would like to see all the partners working closely together, providing an efficient community model that avoids duplication of services and a model that compliments and supports each partner.

The SRT works closely with other partners to provide space for communities to partake in physical activity and by developing knowledge and education of the benefits of physical activity.   Successful partnership working is evident as we look to support the NHS in delivering preventative programmes and other partners by providing facilities to deliver activity.  The Trust also provides employment across eight communities of Shetland which is vital to ensure people have a choice to stay and work locally.

The strength of the partnership is to utilise skill sets, facilities and expertise of each partner to ensure communities receive the best service.
