ZetTrans - Michael Craigie
ZetTrans
ZetTrans is one of seven Regional Transport Partnerships within Scotland. It is the statutory body responsible for the provision and maintenance of public transport services across Shetland, including buses and the interisland ferries. Regional Transport Partnerships are responsible for bringing together key stakeholders in transport planning in an area to produce and deliver strategies which improve and enhance transport and travel.
Recent Community Planning Legislation has expanded the role of Regional Transport Partnerships to focus on ensuring active, stable travel and managing strategic planning. This has become a lot more significant in the last few years.
ZetTrans has a statutory duty to be involved in Community Planning. Working with the partnership network, ZetTrans can support the other network members to move quickly and respond to changes, issues and the general needs of the community. Resources are stretched for each individual organisation so supporting each other enables a sharing of problems and resources.

Michael Craigie, Lead Officer
Michael believes the partnership can best serve the community by working, planning and thinking together as one and always striving to find ways to better integrate their efforts.
In three years’ time, Michael would like to have examples of what the partners have worked on together showcased to the Community in some way to create awareness of the impact the Shetland Partnership’s combination working has on the people of Shetland.
Michael believes the greatest strength of the partnership is that the Network provides opportunity through bringing people together to explore issues. The meetings are formal enough to enable stronger relationships between the different network members which can affect change.
