Annual Report 2025/26 - Locality Plan Activity Update

During 2025/26, delivery focused on sustained partnership working around the priorities and service issues identified by the five island communities.

The annual senior managers’ meeting in August 2025 reviewed the latest Locality Plan update and island Issues Logs, maintaining oversight of matters requiring coordination across services and partners.

On 19th September 2025, the Islands with Small Populations Annual Event at Islesburgh brought together island representatives, elected members, senior managers and partner organisations.  Under the theme ‘Adaptive Capacity’, participants shared examples of what had worked, discussed current priorities and challenges, and considered the resilience and future opportunities of the islands.

Regular contact between island representatives, Community Planning and Development staff and service providers continued throughout the year.  An online Community Conversations session in January 2026 provided a further opportunity for residents and partners to exchange information and discuss shared concerns.  Island Issues Logs remained the main tool for recording matters requiring further work, current progress, and completed actions. 

Work has also begun to consider a proportionate approach to supporting the five communities beyond the end of the current plan in March 2027.
