Place Director for the Shetland Islands, and Deputy Director, Domestic Climate Change – Scottish Government

Phil has been attending meetings of the Management and Leadership Team since 2021, in his role of Place Director for the Shetland Islands.

He feels that ‘partnership’ as a concept is like an aspect of ‘community’, and that this is particularly true for Shetland. Phil believes that the partnership can best serve the community through focusing on what can be done together, within a framework of what we all want to achieve.

Over the next few years, moving through the global challenges of a cost of living crisis and the wider environmental and climate emergency, Phil considers that partnership will be ever more vital. Not least to enable Shetland to realise the huge opportunities for renewable and alternative energy for the community.
